Leave Mill Lane 7.30am, 1.5hrs drive to Hunua Falls carpark.
Walk past the falls onto the Cossey Gorge track, then Wairoa Cossey track to Suspension Bridge carpark. Approx. 13km, 6hrs.
This walk combines the most beautiful parts of the area: falls, stream gorge, viewpoints at the Cossey and Wairoa reservoirs and the Hunua Ranges, the wooden suspension bridge. Moderate difficulty, easy gravel paths at start and end, undulating tramping ridge track (highpoint approx. 400m) with native forest and grassy patches.
The van would need to be driven from start to end of the walk, 20min.
For those that don't want to walk all the way through, there is the option of returning via Massey track to the Hunua Falls.
This loop is about 8km, 3.5hrs. You can also do the Suspension Bridge track as a loop at the other end, 3.5km, 1.5hrs.
